Walking on Sunshine....

Miya has finally learned to walk! Ok - not completely only a few steps, but its a start. We went to Hawaii for a week and a half where Miya stood for the first time (5/16) for a few seconds and took her first couple of steps. It was rather exciting for us - "finally!"

The plane ride went well overall with only 1 meltdown each way. Miya was so tired she didn't know how to fall asleep. Troy had to gently bounce her vertically until she went to sleep. He gently handed her to me to sleep horizontally. The nap lasted two hours on the way to Hawaii and the return flight was a 3o minute nap. The nap could have been longer but this older man had to crush his coke can which made this loud crackling sound. Ugh - I flashed him a dirty look - oops! It was an automatic response! During her wake hours, the only thing that occupied her was her snacks (surprise surprise) and a cup of ice. Miya loves playing with ice using her bare hands or taking a spoon and stabbing at the ice... funny.

Miya met most of her cousins on Troy's side of the family. There were a LOT of little munchkins crawling and walking around under one roof! It was for Sean's first birthday and is he a happy baby. Always flashing his smile to everyone. Sammy is sooooo cute and a little on the shy side. It took a little warming up to me & Troy, but we'll get her to hug us on the next trip. haha. There were Julie's twin girls who were so good, didn't really fuss too much. The twins are so petite compare to big girl Miya. Reid's twin boys look like mini-mes and are really active - is this what it is like to have boys?? Wow.... There were also the Takayamas who had the the older kids at the party. I'm sure they had better things to do than hang out with a bunch of babies. Sorry!

It turns out that Miya likes the ocean and the salt water, she couldn't help herself but to lick the salt water from her face. Pretty nasty if you ask me. The first beach day we met up with Dean's family at the beach and Sammy could not stop laughing all afternoon in the water, she so cute. After about 30-45minutes, Miya finally warmed up to the idea of going into the water and had a great time, especially in her floaty thing.

It was good to have Miya spend time with all her grandparents, which I'm sure enjoyed especially with all the toys Troy's mom had in her house. Miya was loving it! The only sad part was on day 9, Miya finally warmed up to Troy's mom & Leonard and allowed them to carry her without fussing. I should have realized this earlier, but the missing piece was the colby jack cheese! I should have had them give her cheese and I'm sure Miya would have warmed up quicker! Stupid me.

Overall we had a good time, we're returning in August and need to find a good price for the plane tickets..

On Sunday we headed to Man Jose for a family BBQ with Troy's aunties. Joshy was there and running all around the place. He knows his body parts well, quite impressive. Every time a baby fell to the ground, Joshy would start laughing and smiling. It was pretty funny. We couldn't stay too long given that Miya hadn't really napped all day and I wanted to put her down early to try to get her back on Pacific Time - a challenge in itself. I put her down by 6:00pm, she didn't go to sleep until 8:45pm. I had to wake her this morning at 6:30am and she was NOT happy! A couple more days and Miya should be bak to normal.
