Soccer season has started and assigned to team Italy. Same team name from last year but with a different coach and teammates. Some of the teammates include Eliza, Clara, Gen, friends from K & 1st grade. Eliza continues to be one of her closest friends and learned the phrase "best friends" quite often. I'm not sure how I feel about the best friend thing, not very welcoming. I don't want to tell Miya what to do but at the same time feel a little compelled to let her know what that phrase means to other people.
As a first grader, Miya's team consisted of a bunch of 2nd graders which helped amp up her skills. The improvement really showed this year, where she was able to demo her skills by making a bunch of goals and learning to block. This year's soccer is still non-scoring and intended for the girls to build on their skills and enjoy the sport. In reality, all the girls are keeping scores.
Another new topic introduced was chores. Miya's job was to clean her room every Sunday, clear the table, put away her laundry to earn income. It started off with a lot of excitement, maybe lasted about 10 days then she gave up. I asked her why she stopped, and she said its not fun. Of course its not fun, chores is never fun but you still have to do it.
Because Max does not enjoy watching Miya play soccer, her mostly goofs around on the sidelines or plays at the HUGE sandbox up the fill. Max does not complain having to attend her soccer games, which is nice. Perhaps he knows there is snack/ treat after the game.
Another new development with his motor skills is that he is starting to use his left hand more. Is he a lefty or righty? Not sure. We have been practicing writing at home but he usually uses his right hand, but when tired will switch to his left. Similar to eating, will start off with his right and end with his left. I asked Miss Tammy at preschool if she noticed which hand, and said nothing. Some kids take awhile, all the up to 1st grade. My first thought.. this can't be good. We tried various tests, run and kick a ball, righty... golf and swing, righty... throw a ball, righty & lefty... whaaat?
Swimming, Max has confidence to jump in and turnaround in the pool. Shows me that he is confident in the water, yeah! It's really cute, Max already anticipates turning around, so instead of jumping straight in and then turning in the water, he jumps turns half around in the air lands in the water and swims to the wall. Hey little man, no cheating :)
Max's favorite is Ninjago themed play and toys. Ninjago this and that, lego, book, toys, EVERYTHING. It's cute and annoying. Really EVERYTHING? I'm sure this will be short lived but it's a bit much. Max is also adjusting well to preschool life without Damien, Theo & Vihaan. His new buddies are Asher & Desmond.
