19 mos old

Wow, time sure flies! I can't believe Miya is already 19 mos old? According to baby center, she's 19.5 months old today, not a baby anymore.

Miya was being quite "fussy" for a few days and we could not understand why. Nothing would appease her and she kept getting up in the middle of the night crying. I thought perhaps it was an early onset of "terrible twos." Eh, whatever, I'll just ignore her. One night while giving her a bath, I noticed not only one, but three teeth coming in! Oops bad mommy for thinking she was a brat. Instead my big girl was teething. Yikes! Mental note. Including the three new teeth, that makes it for a total of 11.

Other talents she has developed is singing, running and avoiding bedtime. Bedtime is starting to get annoying. She doesn't necessarily fight us, but avoids us at all cost. Miya is rather familiar with the routine, bath, milk, book, bed. In between milk & bed, Miya suddenly finds everything interesting, diapers, lotion, thermometer, hair accessory bowl, comb, brush, saline drops. When we take her down to the floor, she finds the humidifier, diaper pail, laundry basket and anything else interesting. I give her a stern warning if she wants storytime or bedtime and count to three. Usually she opts for bedtime. Strange. It seems like Miya is the only child that does not enjoy books.

Miya is becoming more outgoing as of last week. At day care, she started to interact with other kids proactively. Whereas before, Miya would scream (no joke) when new kids would come close to her and walk to the other side of the room. I hope this "loner" phase is just that, a phase.

Stuff animals is another favorite. Miya has this "yo quiero taco bell" dog that she LOVES and kisses all the time. We noticed that wherever we go, she is drawn to stuff animals, so we got a couple more yesterday. There was this pink bunny Miya wanted to hold in the car. Ok, no big deal, she can hold bunny on the way home. Next thing we see, Miya is making conversation with the bunny, kissed bunny and hugged bunny. It was almost as if she had said, "you're going to love your new home and we're going to be best friends."
