Max had a few developments since the last entry. Shortly after turning 11 months, Max has figured out how to put himself in a sitting position from a crawling position by backing up his upper body and tucking one of his legs under... voila! He's sitting! Yeah!
Max had his 12 month well-check and he's officially our little guy. Both height and weight are in 25%. I guess he has my genes.. uh-oh.. poor little guy. Physically he checks out well, fine motor skills are on schedule, feeding himself, using pincer grasp and making more sophisticated babble. Sometimes I think he's trying to make conversation, only he can understand. At least he's trying..
Miya and Max continue to get along pretty well. I think Max has a competitive side to him. If he sees Miya around me, he heads for my lap clawing his way up. If Miya is already sitting in my lap, he tries to pull her off. I don't think Miya understands what Max is trying to do and just giggles and says " he so silly.. hee hee hee.
Max continues to be our more expressive child, smiling, laughing squealing, crying, screaming and letting anyone hold him.
Now that he's one years old, we have transitioned him to milk, which wasn't a problem but it has to be from a bottle. We have tried introducing the sippy/ straw cup, not interested. Max pushes the cup away and knocks it down and makes sure the cup stays down.
Miya continues to be a good big sister, hugs and kisses him. When she does get annoyed with him after dinner, Miya tells me, " put Max to sleeep." That is one way to rid of your competition.. hahaha. A pretty big development was that she had her first sleepover without Troy or myself. Because her cousin Karis cam down to visit, she wanted to sleep in the same room with her at my parents house. I kept warning her that if she sleeps at grandma's, mommy & daddy are not going to be there in the morning. She said she understood. I guess Miya remembers the SoCal trip all too well.
You can tell my the pictures that the two of them are really close. My sister got Miya dressed in the morning and curled, hairsprayed my girl's hair!! When both Karis & Miya walked into the restaurant, there was this big red bow headband in her hair! Clearly my sister got Miya ready, she looked like Karis!! Supposedly, Miya chose to wear the red head band.. according to my sister. I'm not 100% convinced. Overall she did great, a couple meltdowns at grandma's but nothing my sister couldn't handle. I was so proud of Miya! Good job!

Max has finally figured out how to crawl and pull himself up on his knees. He's still working on getting on his feet. The crawling thing, he's discovered outlets, tables, stairs, etc. He is so much more adventurous than Miya. We would tell her No once or twice and that would be that. Max, he thinks it's a game and constantly touch the outlet, etc. He knows he shouldn't be touching after we say no, but he leans towards the outlet and looks back at us and retracts his arm with a look on his face "what? i wasn't doing anything. i'm just looking.. " boys..
Christmas was good to the kids, they got lots of presents... lots of pink presents for Miya. Pink Pink Pink, because "pink is my favorite color." I told Miya on Xmas eve that Santa was coming to all the good girls & boys home to give a surprise present and we better leave some cookies and milk by the chimney in case he gets hungry. When Miya woke up, she was disappointed and said, "Santa didn't come, I didn't see him." We went to check her stocking and cookies/milk, Miya couldn't believe it!

We went to Troy's Aunty's house for Christmas dinner and Miya came out of her shell much quicker than I thought she would. She played nicely with Joshua (cousin), and they had a jumping contest over a step. They both got some air, but my camera didn't catch any pics. My camera has been on the fritz, I guess it was a dropped one too many times..
